The Simpsons Arcade

Back in the year of 1991. There's was a game under the title The Simpsons Arcade. Which still today is the not only the best Simpsons game ever created but also one of the top arcade titles. Konami was the game's developer. This time around it's EA's turn. Now will the iPhone port fail or kick major butt?

Unlike the other game you play as just Homer who is on a mission to eat a donut. Though not just any one. This one has a special USB drive stuck inside. In which it contains a plan device by the towns villains(?) No not Sideshow Bob. Which just would have made too much sense to use. The villains are just the regular characters who we see on each episode. On the show I'm sure besides the jokes the story is a main focus. Though in this game it really is not.

Graphics
Sticking closely to the original style. It looks good and very smooth. The animations are crisp and fluent. Though not having retina display support is really a let down.

Gameplay
The button layout is not different from any game you've played using a touchscreen d-pad and buttons. There's random weapons that can be found. Each having it's strength and weakness. The mighty power ups are when you receive help from a family member. I wish it could have been more of a collecting feature power. For use at anytime.

Pros:
  • Good graphics that are closely similar to the tv show
  • Gameplay is fun filled and will provided 2-3hrs.

Cons:
  • Controlling only homer and no other characters.
  • The use of the Simpsons universe is small.
  • No retina display support
  • No achievements and use of Gamecenter.

With the current price being $2.99. I would suggest wanting until it hits the 99c mark. Then it will be worth the price.

The Simpsons Arcade: 7/10
